Technology Made Easy for You...or at least I hope!

Share! Share! Share! Today, students of all ages, even down to the Kindergartners, are exposed to technology on a daily basis. To some in education, technology comes easy. To others, it is a challange. Parents, too, seem to be concerned about how their child is using technology safely, as learning tool or even where to find all these worth-while resources. I hope that this blog will be a resource to share safe and effective technology uses and ideas for teachers, students, and parents.

This past school year, a teacher - friend of mine from school presented at the Illinois Computing Technology Conference. Here is the link to the site we created.

Welcome to Igniting the Technology Spark within Your Curriculum! Finding the time, resources and support to effectively integrate technology into your curriculum in meaningful and engaging ways is a challenge. Here are some suggestions to get you started:

Use technology (silly, right? But it is not - be a model and use technology when you can)
Be willing and open to learning new things
Find your resource people
Promote student responsibility
Focus on cooperative, project based and interdisciplinary work with tech just being new
of the many tools that students use

Maybe there is a link or two, ideas, or thoughts that might interest you!

Quickie resource to get the blog rolling...

It is the 4th of July weekend and here I am posting to this new blog that I created. I wanted to get it moving so I am sharing some links that I have attributed my success to in technology integration. I will be back soon with some more ideas. In the meantime, take a look, feel free to comment or ask questions. These links may take you to other information and resources, too!

Until I add another posting, which I hope will be once a week, check out my school webpage under my profile for technology integration ideas and web resources for K-2 students.

Why did I start a Technology Blog - aren't there a million of these out there?

I have decided the best way to share my thoughts about technology in education is through a blog. I often come across wonderful ideas, how-to's and general resources that I think teachers and students can benefit from. Through emails or word of mouth, I share with a small group of collegues. By doing this, I hope that it will increase their level of comfortable technology use. By creating and maintaining this blog, I will try and reach a larger audience and hope that bloggers with technology expertise who visit my blog will share resources as well. So even though this may be one of MANY out there, it is a venue for me to feel as if I am making a difference.
